HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL belongs to the class of anti-hypertensives primarily taken to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and reduce stroke risk in patients with high blood pressure. HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL is a combination medication generally used when a single medicine is unable to control high blood pressure. Hypertension or high blood pressure is a life-long or chronic condition in which the force exerted against the artery wall becomes too high. It can lead to the risk of heart diseases, like heart attack and stroke.

HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL is a combination of Nebivolol (beta-blockers/ blood pressure-lowering medicines) and Hydrochlorothiazide (thiazide diuretic or water pill). Nebivolol is a beta-blocker that works exactly on the heart to decrease heart rate and make the heart more effective at pumping blood all over the body. Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that prevents absorption of excess salt in the body, preventing fluid retention by removing the extra salts and water from the body. Together it lowers blood pressure and prevents the risk of stroke, heart attack and oedema (fluid overload).

Directions for Use

You can take HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL with food or empty stomach simultaneously every day generally one time a day. It should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL should not be used unless prescribed by a doctor. Always take HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL exactly as your doctor told you. Your doctor will advise you how often you take your tablets based on your medical condition.

Drug Warnings

Before using HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL, tell your doctor if you have liver disease, kidney disease, eye problem (glaucoma), asthma, increased uric acid level (gout), diabetes, hyperlipidemia (increased level of lipid) or hyperthyroidism (increased level of the thyroid). HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL should not be given to the people allergic to HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL, have low blood pressure (less than 90 mm of Hg), have had a heart attack, kidney disease, liver disease, pregnant women or planning to get pregnant and breastfeeding women. It is contraindicated in low blood pressure (hypotension) and aortic stenosis (heart valve problem). HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL can pass into breast milk, but its effect on the baby is not known. So, it is better to tell your doctor if you are taking HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL and breastfeeding.

Drug Interactions

Drug-Drug Interaction:

HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL may interact with other diuretics, blood pressure-lowering drugs (amiodarone, amlodipine, clonidine, digoxin, diltiazem, disopyramide), mental illness medications (amisulpiride, chlorpromazine, haloperidol), depression medications (amitriptyline, fluoxetine, paroxetine), antispasmodic medication (baclofen), anti-cancer medications (cyclophosphamide, fluorouracil, methotrexate), mood stabilizer (lithium), angina medication (bepridil), blood sugar-lowering medicines (insulin and oral antidiabetic drugs, metformin), medicines for gout (allopurinol, probenecid, sulfinpyrazone), medicines used to treat low blood pressure or slow heart rate (noradrenaline). If you are taking any of the above, speak with your doctor.

Drug-Disease Interaction:

 HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL should not be given to the people with liver insufficiency or liver function impairment, Anuria (severe renal insufficiency), cardiovascular diseases, Hypotension, bronchospasm (bronchial asthma), abnormal levels of potassium, calcium, sodium and symptomatic hyperuricemia (excess of uric acid in the blood).

Safety Advice

ALCOHOL

You are recommended not to consume alcohol and HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL to avoid unpleasant side effects like drowsiness and dizziness.

PREGNANCY

HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL is not recommended during pregnancy. HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL contains hydrochlorothiazide that crosses the placenta. This may cause fetal damage and can affect the unborn baby (fetus).

BREAST FEEDING

Tell your doctor if you are breast-feeding or about to start breast-feeding. HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL is not recommended for mothers who are breast-feeding.

DRIVING

HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL usually causes drowsiness and dizziness that affects your ability to driving.

LIVER

HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL to be taken with caution, especially if you have a history of liver diseases/conditions. Your doctor may adjust your dose depending upon your current liver conditions.

KIDNEY

HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE+NEBIVOLOL to be taken with caution, especially if you have a history of Kidney diseases/conditions. Your doctor may adjust your dose depending upon your current kidney conditions.
